Questionnaire, second draft.
My Questionnaire
This is my very first questionnaire that i created. I handed it out to a variety of people who would fit in with my target audience, and asked them to fill it in. I then read over the answers that i was given, and checked to see if the answers i was getting back were irrelevant with what i was wanting to find out; what genre people were interested in. If there was a question which provided me with useless information, such as Q14 (was basically the same as Qd) i would scribble it out. I then decided that visually, the questionnaire wasn't very appealing, as my target audience love colour and pictures, so i thought that on my second draft, images and colour would be included. I also noticed that some questions were not able to be answered if the question before meant that a 'No' answer was previously given. Therefore i decided that at the end of these type of questions, a simple "If yes, please go to Q10, if no, please go to Q12" should be given, which guided the participants in the correct direction. The first draft also made me realise that whilst analysing the results of the questionnaire, there was no where to write down notes etc. so a margin down the right hand side of the page should be left for admin use.Tuesday, 2 February 2010
Questionnaire's
I created a questionnaire consisting of both open and closed questions; the aim being to find out what genre of music my target audience (15-25 year olds) are interested in. I found this task quite difficult, as i often thought of questions that would not suit the questionnaire and would provide me with information that was not needed. Today I handed out my questionnaire to 5 of my target audience, and asked them to complete it.

What research should I use?
I have recently looked at different types of research that could be undertaken, in which are appropriate for what I am doing; finding out the genre of music my target audience are interested in. A group discussion was held, which included discussing in detail qualitative, quantitative, primary and secondary data, where we would give examples of each. Triangulation was also introduced, the idea that more than one method is being used to research . This discussion has benefited me with my coursework as it enabled me to see that a questionnaire would be the best research method for me, as i could receive both quantitative and qualitative data; the triangulation between method. It also meant that i could hand it out to a large sample, and it is an easy way to get data from students etc. as it was easy for them to fill out anonymously:).

Core Buyer

A core buyer is your typical consumer of a magazine. This image shows an example of what a typical buyer of my music magazine will look like. My target audience is both males and females, aged between 14-25, with the majority still being students at school. My readers general interests would include music, going out with friends, gossip, parties, celebrity lifestyles, fashion , technology etc. During this time of the year, my target audience will have a low disposable income, as they are students and society is going through a recession at the moment.

Final pre-production piece
This was my final piece for my pre-production coursework. I feel that by looking at this, I can see what needs to be improved for my G321 coursework. For example, the use of the colour of fonts used on top of pictures, as some of these words are not as visible as they could be, therefore I shall take this into consideration, and during the making of my music magazine, I shall evaluate and make sure everything stands out that needs to:)
Pre-Production
I was very pleased with my pre-production task, and I thought that my final piece was of the best of my ability. I particularly enjoyed the creative part of this task, which included taking a variety of images which i would later choose from to have as my main image on the front page. I tried to take a range of pictures so i could get different angles etc on my shots, here is a small selection of a few:

However, i found that none of these images showed direct mode of address, which i thought would be suitable for the front cover as it connects the reader and the person on the image, drawing them in. So, because of this, i decided to take some more images with a direct mode of address.
In addition, I never manipulated my images, which i think could have made them look a lot better, this was because the computer at school could not provide me with the software needed to do so. this also goes for my final piece, as it had to be done on the resources we had available. Therefore, f or my G321 coursework I shall make sure that I edit my pictures at home as well as my final pieces, as the software I have can make them look more professional.

Why blog?
Blog's are a really good idea; this is because they're really easy to create, maintain, update and access. They also allow you to interact with others and recieve feedback on your posts, getting their opinion, helping you with later posts. Blogging also lets me show you my personality through the an electronic source:).

New Media Technology in OCR
I think that the introduction of the electronic format for the evaluation is a great idea! It allows us students to create part of our coursework with technology that we are aware of, a bit like how we use facebook. I am really looking forward to this task, especially the taking of the pictures for the front cover etc.
About Me:)
